A - Fruits bearing excessive residues from insecticide sprays or dusts are adulterated under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.

Pineapples showing or likely to show the internal condition known as "brown heart," or "black heart," should not be offered for entry into the USA.

Blueberries and huckleberries sometimes contain small larvae which render them unfit for food. Fruit from infested areas should be avoided. Fresh blueberries should be held and transported under conditions which will prevent mold or other types of spoilage.
