A - Standards of identity have been established for margarine (21 CFR 166.110), mayonnaise (169.140), French dressing (169.115), and salad dressing (169.150). In addition, there are special labeling requirements for margarine (21 CFR 166.40). There are also A lot of nonstandardized dressings that are subject to the general food labeling requirements. Mineral oil is not a permitted ingredient in any of these foods.
