Mirapex causes hallucinations? Cool! My workday could use a bit of illusionary fun! But yes I agree with you that dietary problems are probably at the roots of RLS somewhere. I know when I get iron deficient the RLS gets far worse.

At the same time though, until they get a permanent handle on RLS and all its variations, I'll take the Mirapex. The other treatment is Clonazepam, which also works fine, but tends to get addictive.

The frustration of dancing around the house at night trying to make the twitchy-itchy feeling go away, the loss of sleep etc.. I'll do the Mirapex for now. It's THAT bad.

I do agree with you that doctors tend to brush off their patients complaints, and I don’t doubt that you have something wrong with your legs. But I think to say it is RLS is a stretch.

My main problem is with the Pharmaceutical companies is that they try to make people believe that they have a disease when in fact most people don't. While I do not think RLS is real I do believe that you have some sort of problem and I think your doctor should take you seriously.

The problem with RLS is no one knows what it actually is or if all cases are actually even RLS. How can the drug companies sell you a drug without understanding what the problem is? Did you know that a lot of people who take the RLS drug mirapex can end up having hallucinations? To me that seems a little crazy.

I think a lot of these problems are dietary and that there should be more research put into what is actually causing some of these problems rather than trying to fit everyone under a nice little name like RLS and then give them all the same drug.

Restless leg syndrome IS real. 10 years ago, there wasn't a treatment and boy did I suffer! Every time you go to bed. just as you start to fall asleep your legs start feeling like you NEED to run a marathon. And not ONE thing you do is going to make it stop. It feels like you want to bend your knees backwards the wrong way to tense up the muscles.

I'm the LAST person who would defend the pharmaceutical drug cartel, but RLS is very real. My mother suffered with it all her adult life and still does (she's in her early 70's now). All her side of the family has it too. Until recently there wasn't even a name for this very real condition. Its because doctors stopped telling us "you're nuts, its all in your head." and realized no its not in your head, its in your legs. Thats the real problem; doctors not taking their patients seriously. Since they've never heard of it, it must be invalid right? They can't help you so you get brushed off as a hypochondriac.
