ALTACE is an ACE inhibitor that helps to reduce blood pressure by decreasing production of a protein that can cause the blood vessels to constrict. It is used to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, or cardiovascular death in high-risk patients aged 55 and up.
Who should not take Altace?
People taking some medicine for diabetes. Check with your doctor. People who are pregnant because death or injury to your unborn child may result.
What should I tell my health care provider?
Tell your health care provider if you:
- If you have symptoms of low blood sugar such as sweating or shakiness.
- Dry cough, dizziness, and light-headedness because of low blood pressure.
