Cyclobenzaprine

Cyclobenzaprine is a muscle relaxant used to relieve the pain and stiffness of muscle spasms and discomfort because of strain and sprain. It should not be taken longer than two to three weeks. Inform your physician if you are pregnant or nursing. Inform your physician if you have glaucoma or difficulty urinating. Do not take this medication with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor.

Cyclobenzaprine, a muscle relaxant, is used with rest, physical therapy, and other measures to relax muscles and relieve pain and discomfort caused by strains, sprains, and other muscle injuries.

What side effects can this medication cause?

Although side effects from cyclobenzaprine are not common, they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

  • drowsiness
  • dry mouth
  • dizziness
  • upset stomach

If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:

  • severe skin rash
  • swelling of the face or tongue
  • difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • irregular heart rate
  • chest pain
  • fever
  • seizures
