What is Detrol used for?
Detrol is used to treat bladder conditions that cause the feeling of having to urinate immediately, urinate too often, or the inability to control urination.
A person with overactive bladder may also experience nocturia — getting up to go to the bathroom 2 or more times at night. Nocturia results from the urinary frequency associated with overactive bladder.
Who should not take Detrol?
You should not take Detrol if you have any of the following conditions:
- Gastric retention (Problems emptying the contents of the stomach)
- urinary retention (inability to empty the bladder)
- gastric retention (delayed emptying of the stomach)
- uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma
- a history of any unusual or allergic reaction to DETROL LA or its ingredients
- Difficulty urinating because of a bladder blockage
General Precautions with Detrol:
- Detrol interacts with some other medicines, which include certain antibiotics and antifungal medicines. Tell your doctor if you are taking either of these types of medicines. Your doctor may want to lower your dosage of Detrol.
- Detrol may cause blurred vision
What are some possible side effects of Detrol?
- drowsiness
- Dry mouth
- Upset stomach
- Headache
- Constipation
- Dry eyes
- Sleepiness
- Blurring of near vision
