Lunesta is used for the long term treatment of insomnia and sleeping problems. This is the first drug approved for long term use. The medication is indicated for the treatment of people who experience difficulty
falling asleep as well as for the treatment of those who are unable to sleep
through the night (sleep maintenance difficulty).
Symptoms of insomnia may include difficulty falling asleep, waking up frequently during the night, getting up up too early, an inability to fall back to sleep, or feeling unrefreshed.
Who should not take Lunesta?
Talk you your doctor if you are unsure about this medication. You should not drive or operate
machinery while taking Lunesta. Tell to your doctor if you are or have been addicted to drugs or alcohol.
What should I tell my health care provider?
The company is doing reasearch to see if Lunesta can be used for the treatment of insomnia in patients that have depression or pain, and in women who are experiencing the effects of perimenopause.
